about

The Snowglobe Stringband was born in July 2021 at the Ossipee Valley Music Festival in Hiram, Maine, when a group of friends were thrilled to discover that they could not stop playing tunes together. With Isa Burke and Dan Klingsberg on fiddles, Matt Arcara on banjo, and Ethan Hawkins on guitar, an alchemic groove emerged under the pine trees. Dan Bui joined in on bass and the vibe got even better. A small crowd gathered around them, but no one broke in to disturb the balance of the tunes. They kept playing for hours. When a nearby Mike Fogel said something along the lines of "man, you guys are like this perfect little impenetrable old-time snowglobe," a band was born. This album was recorded in Portland, Maine, over two and a half days in December 2022.
